#means #purpose #humans
Human beings shouldn’t be used or treated as a mere means.
> Rational beings can never be treated merely as means to ends; they must always also be treated as ends in themselves, requiring that their own reasoned motives must be equally respected.
> If a person is an end-in-themself it means their inherent value doesn't depend on anything else - it doesn't depend on whether the person is enjoying their life ([[自我价值是自己赋予的针对自己的价值|自我价值]]?), or making other people's lives better([[他人价值是能够带给他人的价值|他人价值]]?). We exist, so we have value. ([source](https://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/introduction/endinitself.shtml))
