I don't want to deny all the beautiful things that can happen at school. I have personally experienced so much of them.
However, I believe that schools are not inherently designed to be enjoyable. I will not dive into the history and nitty gritties of when was the first schools founded and to what purpose. But all I know is that from my personal experience, schools teach the rejection of intelligence.
John Talyor Gatto put it beautifully, based on his observation, of what school teaches in his book [[Dumbing Us Down]]. I will not repeat -- instead, I will put down the summarized notes if you don't care the read the whole book, which I know no one will.
[[The hidden curriculum that school really teaches]]
It largely aligns with my experience. However, there are some other aspects he didn't quite mention. These are all true quotes from some of the friends and peers I interviewed.
## A collection of things we learned at school

- to pull up whole night
- to rage and genuinely hate some one
- to hate the things I do
- to lie, to cheat, to deceive -- both myself and others
