Hi there!
Welcome to this column "GTD with simple tech". I am Jimmy Zhang, and I will be updating the column on a weekly basis, published on the TechEd newsletter.
GTD stands for "getting things done". Most people struggle with getting things done. However, life is much more than getting things done -- it's about getting the right things done to get closer to our goal, and getting things done so there is time for other more meaningful things. Most important of all, GTD is essential because time is the scariest resource and the ultimate limiting factor on this planet, and GTD aims to increase the efficiency of the use of this resource. This should be the goal of all "economies" -- you and me. Think of us as individual economies that use time to produce meaningful outcomes and products, such as essays, knowledge, activities, experiences, etc.. Increasing efficiency means achieving more in less time.
This column will start with a systematic introduction that paint the big picture and show you where GTD fits in your life. And then, we will move on to some rules and practices of GTD. Finally, we will look at some FAQ and common complaints.
This is just a general plan, and is subject to change. So stay tuned, and see you next week.
