## Problem Statement - Micro -- Most student-led projects fail - Macro -- UWC see no output / result in its educational movement Define "fail" - never got out of paper in the first place - got into execution, but - imaginary / limited impact - unsustainable & short-lived Examples - CSC Impact Week - UWCM YSE ## Possible Reason - Drive -- lack of true passion / doing project for the sake of doing (school requirement, college application) - Plan / Thinking -- plan doesn't make sense at all (trying to solve an imaginary problem, no knowledge, etc.) - Execution / Management -- lack of thinking framework / PM system Other reason - UWC campuses isolated from each other --> missed opportunities for meaningful collab / scaling ## Sginificance - UWC with its mission in solving world problems need successful student projects with lasting impacts to strive toward its mission -- UWC students could have made much larger impacts with its funding & resources - currently funding & resources go in, but nothing (output / result) comes out ## Solution Offered - Facilitation - connecting students with expertise in PM / thinking framworks / leaderhsip (Minerva) - facilitating student projects in finding passion, project design, & PM - Communication - [[UWC TV, Network & System Buildup Project]] - A Cross-campus platform for the communication & advertisement for student projects - Measurement & Tracking - impact tracker / measurer / dashboard - An action-focused mission control center - Key Question -- How do we measure the effectiveness of a school and of an education? ## Next Steps - UWC Hub Post to attract attention to this issue - Long post - Pitching my solution with a website --- Program / Boot Camp for Students -- by whom? by me? Whose support do I need? Whose expertise do I need? Who resources do I need? Minerva habits of mind & thinking frameworks + UWC Students = better projects with lasting impact --> reaching UWC's full potential and win a Nobel Peace Prize I pick the best & most promising projects of all UWC students and help them achieve real & lasting impact. ## UWC Hub Posts -- UWC-Related Big Issues - the need for a information platform & mission command center for systemic coordination & goal-reaching - [[UWC TV, Network & System Buildup Project]] - cross-campus collaboration for project beyond local impacts - It's hard to make impacts -- we must empower students to make changes by teaching them management & systemic thinking (STP) - a critique on a highly romanticized and naive view on student projects - we need knowledge (understanding the system, understanding how to intervene, and how to sustain the effort / project and achieve real & lasting impact) to do projects and make impacts -- that knowledge is not taught - Ib hinders our mission -- To achieve education for peace & a sustainable future we must ditch IB
